The Not-Back-To-School Picnic today was fabulous, with about 110 of us down at Oakledge Park, right on the (somewhat polluted by the hurricane) Lake. The kids played, the adults schmoozed, and a great start to our homeschooling year was had by all!
Then, as if over four hours in the park weren’t enough, the girls had their first soccer practice. They are on the coed Kindergarten Bluejays team, and Buddy was such an enthusiastic sidelines player that the parent-coaches said he can join in practices from now on! Everyone had fun and got their (tired) hustle on. Big D even put herself in goal a few times, taking after her Mama. 🙂We got home really late, so we had silly dinner (mint chocolate chip icecream) so I could get on with sorting out the homeschool desk so we are all set for the morning. Buddy balked when I talked about our new math things, so I showed him his new math book. Well, that did it, and I had to let him do the first page (Read it, Draw it, Solve it: K) on the spot! Then Big D wanted to do some too, so she typed out the first several words of this paragraph for me while I had my hands full of her cuddling brother.
Phew! I am knackered, but really exited to get into it tomorrow. Wish us luck!
